So I sent our CD: DJ DarkMeat "Revolution by the Book" to Brooke Archilla (Hip-hop Performance teacher/Song-writer/Adm. Rep for Musician's Institute in Hollywood) and asked for a review and here is what she said:

"I enjoyed all of you for different reasons. I think my favorite from the bunch was Track 11: The Revolution Has Begun. The sultry beat with the delivered rhyme patterns worked out really well and I thought the execution from both of you was real smooth. I dig what you guys are doing overall. I hear a lot of artists everyday (especially hip hop) and most are very subpar if anything at all truthfully. You have good lyrical content, good delivery, decent production, and an overall good execution of the messages intended. I also liked the variety on the disc. I didnít feel like I was hearing the same olí same from song to song. Your fans will appreciate this greatly.

On the criticism side of things, I always recommend avoiding too many samples if possible. It just limits the track even though the tracks could be banginí with samples. Here in Los Angeles, not many will even tune into sampled music once you get to that serious level. Also, both you and Phillie Blaine have strong voices and I would love to hear more of you guys bounce back and forth a bit on the tracks you both share together. You both have strong verses separately but it didnít ever feel like there was much to show your abilities as a unit. It was all very your part/his part. You both have strong writing abilities. Try to work together a bit more to get the listener feeling like they are in this zone with both of you. Just a thought. It will also challenge your writing skills quite a bit.

All in all, I think you already know that in comparison to many others, you crush them. Now the challenge is to keep stepping it up and raising that bar beyond your OWN expectations. Donít get comfortable. Work on a sound that is YOURS and yours alone. I want to be able to play a song and know itís you without question. Work on owning your sound. Avoiding samples will also aid in this. All in all, this was very well done. Great job. Keep pushing and keep me posted..."

All in all I'd say that was a great review...what do you guys think?

P.S.: If you want to listen to the CD for yourself listen to the soundclick player at myspace.com/djdarkmeat (if you like what you hear you can buy the fully mastered version)...
